Nari's Role In - Child's Social Development Process

Man is a social animal. But at the time of birth, he is neither social nor anti-social. It is not an innate quality, but an acquired one. Growing amidst his culture and society, the child becomes a social being. He learns the traditions, customs and values of his society and gradually turns into a social being. These social attributes put him on a higher pedestal than other animals. The development of these social qualities go on till he takes his last breath.

A child’s personality depends upon his social development. Social development also affects his character, language, emotions mental ability and thinking. Therefore, the importance of social development is manifold.

A child’s social life begins with his mother. No wonder why mother is called the first teacher of the child. His interaction with the family determines his personality. Therefore, parents, particularly mothers should take extra care to make the family environment happy for child’s personality growth.

So, we mothers should give special attention to improve the three main aspects – firstly, parents relationship, secondly, child-parent relationship and thirdly child’s relation with other children, specially his siblings.

After family, comes the neighbourhood and school. Then he gets involved in various social, religious and cultural organizations and hus, the process of social development goes on.

In other words, social development means the attainment means the attainment of maturity in social relationships. It is a process through which a newly born child, neither social nor anti-social at the time of birth, becomes a functioning member of a particular society.
